The founding members of Parnassos opted very early for the publication of a review, comprising mainly philological, historical and archaeological essays, but also scientific, theological or legal studies, or even literary texts. The first issue of the Parnassos review appeared in 1877. From that year to 1895, seventeen volumes were published. Then the publication was interrupted and the review was replaced by the Yearbook, numbering seventeen volumes from 1896 to 1939. For twenty years, the Society did not publish any review. In 1959, however, following a proposal by Georgios Zoras, the Parnassos review appeared again. From that year on, it is published annually in its actual form. Its uninterrupted publication up to the present time makes of Parnassos one of the more important philological reviews worldwide. The Society has acquired renown in Greece and abroad not only because of the Parnassos review, but also thanks to its other publications, mainly philological and historical monographs. |
